Guess How Much I love you

Guess How Much I Love You

Recently, I've been reading a slew of children's book, and one book that struck me was Sam McBratney's 'Guess How Much I love you'. Its not a complicted story but it does tell an endearing story that's been told and retold through time: love. In this times you'd be hard press to find a story that doesn't include romantic love, which makes this book refreshing. Its a simple tale of a parent's unconditional love for his child.

"I love you right up to the MOON, he (Little Nutbrown Hare) said, and closed his eyes.

"Oh, that's far," said Big Nutbrown Hare. "That is very, very far."

Big Nutbrown Hare settled Little Nutbrown Hare into his bed of leaves. He leaned over and kissed him good night. Then he lay down close by and whispered with a smile, "I love you right up to the moon -- AND BACK."

The words are simple and the story uncomplicated but there is elegance in its simplicity... This book is proof positive that in order for a book to be well loved and praised it doesn't need long florid sentences but simple words and a timeless story, in this case, Nutbrown Hares love for his little rabbit.
