Moanin' and pissin' version work related

I have admitted in the past that I am the worst employee and I admit it again, I like the job its just isn't for me (I again state). It is interesting but loaded with paperwork (what job isn't?) and pressures. It goes beyond the 9-to-5 hours because PR consultants (or account executives) should be on call 24 hours should your clients suddenly have the need for your services. And as stated by my supervisor told me time and again, public relations is all about the speed.

How fast you can come up with an effective and sustainable publicity plan, how was you can write the releases and how fast you can have the articles approved and dispatched.

And I am not all about speed.

I am as fast as the turtle and even though I wake up early, I only have the energy to work at night.

Mostly, my biggest concern about this job is that I really don't see the importance of public relations. I mean, isn't that a bad thing to have? I'm your public relations consultant but when asked I can't come up with a *single* reason why public relations is important for your company.

If you want to spread the word about your company or your product, I think marketing can handle that, you can even get a writer to write for you, or you can write about your product, all you need to do is develop contacts in the media... which is I think, the only time a PR firm comes in handy.

The contacts in the media.

Man, I suddenly feel like a traitor to the PR industry. ::looks around, shifty-eyed::
