Architecture and Art

So, I was just reading Marie's entry on the Da Vinci furniture show and just reading about it makes me want to get on a plane to Europe and just experience first hand all the sights and sounds I kept reading and seeing in books and movies.

It also made me recall the Philippine Stock Exchange building in the Ayala Traingle. I passed through it this morning and was just struck with love with the architecture. It's just so amazing and different from the other buildings in the Philippines.

On the slow poll counting and sundry details

Since the Supreme Court judged the funds used to acquire the computers ( for the Computerized Elections despite the fact that it was already paid for) as anomalous we are now suffering through a very slow count of the ballots.

Personally, I don't care if its anomalous or whatever the best way to approach it is to use it not discard it. It's just going to waste in storage, that's not being resourceful.

Look at the NAIA-3! It's a grat new airport but are we using it? No! Because the contract was deemed anomalous and now the state of the art Airport is just sitting there like a big ol' pile of nothing.

On the other hand, it seems most Filipinos have woken up and voted for GMA, so, yay! I don't care about the naysayers I really think she's a good president and given that she now has officially has mandate she can roll up her sleeves and work. That is if the opposition will shut the hell up and think of the country first rather than their egos.

Another yay for General Tagarib(?) the Filipino-American General who blew the whistle on the ongoing abuse of iraqi prisoners.

The Philppines need more people like you... actually, the whole world does.

Of tight races

I'm watching tv with a beating heart and sweaty palms I am riveted to the screen, watching the numbers fade in and out that told the unofficial exit polls of the next president of the Philippines.

It is very disheartening to note that GMA is only leading by a very slim margin from FPJ. They haven't learned voting yet again on the basis of popularity rather than qualifications!

And, truth to tell Erap beside FPJ looks smarter and that's saying something!

What I can't take was how it's described on the foreign press: GMA against Fernando Poe, an actor with no political experience, what hurts is that it's true

Election Day

Yesterday was Pacquiao's fight, which ended in a draw after a spectacular fight (he knockdowned Marquez three times in the 1st round) but Marquez salvaged a draw, attacking tactically and using to his advantage Pacquiao's injury.

Today will be the make or break day of the Philippine elections, a test whether the Filipinos have improved, that they have learned their lesson.

Investors, businesses are on hold until the time the results are known.

It's been known to my friends that I've been deciding between GMA and Bro. Eddie Villanueva, the charismatic leader whom I thought at first was a nuisance candidate. I thought he was ignoring the separation of Religion and State law but through the course of the campaign my mindset changed as I learned of his qualifications. I was impressed, to say the least. He wasn't just a religious leader he was an activist in his youth and a president for several prestigous universities, not to mention starting his own group that now amounts to more than a million followers.

It was a bind.

I originally set out to vote for GMA but Villanueva's campaign was convincing in its sincerity, more than FPJ's alleged sincerity.

On GMA's side however is her experience and my belief that three years is not enough to prove her worth. On the other hand is all the corruption charges against her, due mostly to her husband, Mike Arroyo.

The first gentleman was forbidden to speak on about anything and it seemed to work. Mike is a liability for her.

Ping never cross my mind, just looking at him I keep thinking thoughts on ambush and Martial Law. No way, been there, done that, saw the torture.

Roco... now, that's another landmine. MY parents are pro-Roco, I however, am not. I never liked him, something about him strikes me... as fake.

Then came his illness, if anything that cemented my non voting party for me. Being president of a country, you can't afford to be ill.
So.. yeah.

FPJ... feh.
