Movies and Books

I wrote the following on my ML and thought I'd share: Hayao Miyazaki, the genius who brought us Princess Mononoke, Spirted Away, Nausicaa brings to the big screen Diana Wynne Jones's beloved book, Howl's Moving Castle. It's the story of Sophie Hatter, who'd always believed the old adage, first born among tree fares the illest luck when journeying on a quest. Resigned to spend her life as a clerk in a hat shop, Sophie finds her life turned upside down when the powerful Witch of the Waste turns her into a very old woman. Sophie flees from the town and finds herself in the moving castle, where the Wizard Howl was said to live, a wizard who was reputed to eat the souls of young girls!

Via SelenaK:

Joss Whedon might direct the third installment of X-Men

Whoo... Snark and storyline and the Joss! Currently, besides filming Serenity, he's also writing for the X-Men title Astonishing X-Men. Someday, the wallet allows I'll buy the collection.

Funny thing is, David Boreanaz is auditioning for Superman, the movie Singer left X men for!

Neil Gaiman's Coraline might also grace the big screen, this time the offer to direct comes from Henry Selsnick, the man who directed Nightmare Before Christmas. He'll use the same method with Coraline, so he'll be true to the vision of the book, another big plus:)
