Birth and Sorrow

Y'know, giving birth might just be worth it. I saw some new born babies this afternoon and was just so... taken with those little things. If only they could stay that size forever...

We finally received the Two Towers: Extended Edition.

Two words: Pure Love.

Every scene just radiated love, especially after watching the appendices and hearing the commentary it’s just amazing how dedicated everyone were in creating the movies. I can’t wait for the Return of the King: Extended Edition.

Wow.

A while back a friend and I got to talking about LoTR until we ended talking about the Eowyn and Arwen. I ended up defending Arwen, used to be when I was younger I had my heart set on Eowyn marrying Aragorn but now I'm firmly on the side of Arwen.

Especially after I read the Tale of Arwen and Aragorn, my heart just bled for Arwen.

Here are some excerpts:

... And long there he lay, an image of the splendour of the Kings of Men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world.

But Arwen went forth from the House, and the light in her eyes was quenched, and it seemed to her people that she had become cold and grey as nightfall in winter that comes without a star. Then she said farewell to Eldarion, and to her daughters, and to all whom she had loved; and she went out from the city of Minas Tirith and passed away to the land of Lórien, and dwelt there alone under the fading trees until the winter came. Galadriel had passed away and Celeborn also was gone, and the land was silent.

There at last when the mallorn-leaves were falling, but spring had not yet come, she laid herself to rest upon Cerin Amroth; and there is her green grave, until the world is changed, and all the days of her life are utterly forgotten by men that come after, and elanor and niphredil bloom no more east of the Sea.

That was it: All the days of her life are utterly forgotten.

She's given-up her immortality, her chance to not fade from existence and in the end Arwen is forgotten. Her life, her loves, everything she has done before and after she met Aragorn. This woman who had lived for thousands of years, who has experienced a lot more than we could ever experience, seen things beyond our imagination and she's just... forgotten!

Who could not feel for her because of that?

I could go on but I'm not very articulate in expressing how... sad Arwen's story makes me.

That's why I'll always choose Arwen for Aragorn, and for the same token I'll always choose Faramir for Eowyn. Faramir's never been first in his father's eyes, and it was the same case for Eowyn, who at the start had only eyes for Aragorn but thankfully Eowyn learns to love Faramir.

I've been reading the Full Metal Alchemist manga and just finished the first story of volume 2... God that story was chilling and painful.

It was advertised again and again it was painful but I didn't know it was also creepy. Shudder.

And that was just the manga, I haven't reached the anime yet...
